2006 Volkswagen Passat

If you have decided on a Volkswagen then your best bet is to get a semi-current model. This way, it will not be as expensive as a new model, but also it will not be out-of-date and may have most of the features that the newer car would have. A car like the 2006 Volkswagen Passat is what you are looking for. Volkswagen categorizes their cars into versions.

  • 1996 – 2005: Volkswagen had had moderate success with its previous versions of the Passat and already made a reputation for manufacturing reliable vehicles. In 1996, Volkswagen presented a new Passat that was based on the Volkswagen Group B5 Platform, which was also shared with the Audi A4. This brought the Passat a certain amount of prestige that was welcomed at the time. By 2001, the Passat had yet another change, and Volkswagen introduced their B5.5 model which had undergone a complete facelift in the hope of equaling or surpassing the competition. Unfortunately, the changes were not enough, and the 2001 model was poorly rated and fell far beneath its rivals, such as the Vauxhall Vectra, Citroen C5 and Ford Mondeo.
  • 2005 – Present: after the poor ratings of its predecessor, Volkswagen went back to the drawing board, intent on addressing the shortcomings of the previous Passat models. And in 2005, the B6 was launched. This model no longer shared its platform with its Audi equivalent, A4. In fact, some people claim that Volkswagen purposely distanced the Passat from the A4. By 2006, the complete overhaul meant that the 2006 Volkswagen Passat now offered new styling, larger dimensions and more power.

The more current Passat has a lot more to offer, but all of these things come at a price and most are not strictly necessary. Of course if you’re your budget will allow for a few more amenities then you can definitely find these in new versions of the Passat or perhaps other Volkswagen models.

The 2006 Volkswagen Passat offered stability at highway speeds with firm, accurate steering. Road noise is generally kept to a minimum with the vehicle reacting to bumps as a unit. Overall the 2006 Volkswagen Passat answered many of the requests of its predecessors and the result is a reliable car that is made with quality that gives an excellent ride and is economical.
